Halco - Slidog 105

The Slidog 105 is one of the most versatile lures to have in your tackle box. At 105mm hits that sweet spot where it's small enough for snapper and kahawai to take a bite at and big enough that a kingy won't ignore it. The lure is 28g so it casts like a rocket but is light enough to use with a lighter soft baiting rod and reel (no need to upgrade to a topwater rod/reel combo if you're new to stick baiting).

The action on the Slidog 105 is extremely easy to use:

  • Straight wind at any speed and let the lure do all the work
  • Stop and go with big or sharp sweeps for a more erratic movement
  • Or just let it sink as it has an awesome side-to-side shimmy action on the drop making it great for any depth.

Specifics:

  • Applications: Casting
  • Length: 105mm, 4.1 Inches
  • Weight: 28g
  • Buoyancy: Medium Sink
  • Hooks: #1 Mustad Trebles

Techniques for Fishing:

1. Topwater Retrieve: Use a steady retrieve with the Halco Slidog, keeping it on the water's surface to attract fish with its enticing swimming action.

2. Jerking Action: Incorporate occasional jerks during the retrieve to create a darting motion, simulating an injured or fleeing baitfish.

3. Variable Retrieval Speed: Experiment with different retrieval speeds. Sometimes a slow and steady retrieve works best, while at other times, a faster pace might trigger more aggressive strikes.

4. Pause and Twitch: Intermittently pause the retrieval, giving the Slidog a chance to suspend in the water. Add subtle twitches to imitate a wounded or struggling prey.

5. Target Structure: Cast near structures like rocks, docks, or vegetation where predatory fish might hide. The Halco Slidog's design makes it effective in these areas.

6. Adjust for Conditions: Tailor your approach based on the weather and water conditions. On calm days, a more subtle presentation might be effective, while choppy water may call for a more aggressive retrieve.

7: Experiment with Colors: Depending on the water clarity and light conditions, try different colors of the Halco Slidog to see which ones attract more attention from fish.
